We’re looking for an exceptional Lead Data Scientist to join our mission-driven team and shape the algorithms and methodologies at the heart of our platform. You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing cutting-edge machine learning models to analyze cloud data, email, photo, video, and other common data types to optimize storage, reduce waste, and unlock value.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and lead OptiCloud’s data science strategy, aligning models and methods with business and environmental impact goals.
• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning algorithms to identify redundant, obsolete, or unnecessary data across corporate and personal cloud ecosystems (including emails, photos, videos, and files).
• Build scalable pipelines to process and analyze structured and unstructured data from diverse sources in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate models into the OptiCloud platform, delivering actionable insights to customers.
• Evaluate and experiment with cutting-edge approaches (including NLP, computer vision, anomaly detection) for digital waste detection across different data types.
• Manage and mentor data scientists and machine learning engineers, balancing hands-on model development with leadership responsibilities.
• Communicate findings and strategies clearly to executive leadership, customers, and external stakeholders, translating complex data science concepts into business value.
• Monitor and continuously improve model performance to ensure accuracy, fairness, and ethical AI practices.

Ideal Qualifications:

✅ PhD or Masters in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field.
✅ 5+ years of experience leading data science projects and implementing data-driven strategies at enterprise level.
✅ Proven track record of hands-on development of machine learning solutions deployed in production environments.
✅ Strong expertise in supervised and unsupervised learning, NLP, anomaly detection, clustering, and data deduplication techniques.
✅ Experience working with large-scale cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and relevant tools (e.g., Azure ML Studio, Azure Cloud, Spark, Databricks, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
✅ Ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
✅ Passion for sustainability, climate tech, and leveraging AI for positive environmental and societal impact.
