About the Assistant Accountant Position – Accounting Jobs in eCommerce
As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining the financial health of the business. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll work closely with a collaborative finance team across Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. You’ll be key to supporting both our day-to-day accounting functions and our ambitious growth story in the booming pet industry.
Assistant Accountant – Key Responsibilities
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processing, including data entry, reconciliations, and resolving discrepancies
- Prepare and process invoices, payments, staff reimbursements and expense claims efficiently and accurately
- Support monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks, including generating financial reports and journals
- Maintain and update financial records in line with company policies and accounting standards
- Respond promptly to internal and external finance queries, cooperating across teams for effective issue resolution
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and documentation
- Undertake ad hoc administrative tasks and finance projects as required by the team
What You’ll Bring – Assistant Accountant Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a similar accounts or finance administration role (1-2 years preferred, but not essential)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Solid computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (Xero or similar) is highly regarded
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
- Self-motivated mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Currently studying or recently completed a degree or qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field (desirable)
