Accounts Officer
WHAT IS THE AIM AND PURPOSE OF MY POSITION
The Accounts Officer will play a key role in supporting the Finance Team through accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. With a primary focus on banking and bank reconciliations, this role will also assist across Accounts Receivable and other day-to-day accounting activities, helping ensure the integrity of financial records and smooth finance operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Banking and Reconciliations
Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
Ensure banking transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies where required.
Manage the business credit card account.
Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Support
Maintain Accounts Receivable function
Provide support to the Accounts Payable function during peak periods.
Assist with invoice processing, statement reconciliations, and customer/supplier queries.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and approval processes.
General Accounting Support
Assist with month-end close activities, including posting journals and accruals as required.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Support the Finance Team with ad-hoc reporting and data requests.
Assist in improving and documenting finance processes where appropriate.
Data & Systems
Work confidently in Excel to review, reconcile, and analyse data.
Ensure data accuracy and integrity across finance systems.
Support automation and efficiency initiatives within transactional finance processes

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Sound numeracy skills and a methodical approach to work.
Exceptional time management and organisational skill with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Experience in a similar Accounts Officer, or Banking Officer or transactional finance/accounting role.
Experience in performing bank and accounts reconciliations.
Intermediate Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables preferred).
PERSONAL QUALITIES
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
A collaborative mindset and willingness to support the wider finance team.
