Senior Financial Accountant – Client Fund Administration & Registry
This role is responsible for managing the fund administration and investor registry functions across Rawlings Bolton’s client funds. The position ensures accurate, timely, and compliant reporting for a growing portfolio of funds (currently 12 and expanding), including unit pricing, investor reporting, and audit support. The role operates in close collaboration with the Senior Financial Accountant focused on internal corporate accounting, with both roles cross-trained to provide coverage and flexibility across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Accounting & Unit Pricing
1. Prepare and review monthly fund accounting records.
2. Prepare and review unit pricing and fund NAV for managed investment schemes, ensuring
accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements and client agreements.
3. Maintain investor registry and process subscriptions, redemptions, and distributions.
4. Perform reconciliations of fund assets, liabilities, income, and expenses.
5. Prepare valuation of investments, accruals, and allocations.
6. Prepare distribution reconciliations and investor reporting (monthly and quarterly).
7. Liaise with fund managers, trustees and auditors to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
8. Ensure compliance with fund mandates, AFSL obligations, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Coverage
1. Cross-train with the Senior Financial Accountant focused on internal corporate accounting
to ensure mutual coverage and support.
2. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and automation/AI projects.
3. Provide technical guidance to junior team members (if applicable).
Compliance & Audit
1. Ensure all fund and corporate reporting deadlines are met.
2. Prepare audit workpapers and support annual audits for both client funds and the business.
3. Maintain documentation and strong internal controls and contribute to compliance with
ASIC and other regulators.
Client Service & Team Support
1. Act as a key point of contact for clients on fund accounting and reporting matters.
2. Provide technical support and mentoring to junior accountants (where applicable)
3. Work closely with internal stakeholders (operations, compliance, investment teams) to
ensure smooth delivery of services.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential:
CPA or CA qualified.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in fund accounting, investor registry, corporate accounting,
or financial reporting
Strong knowledge of fund accounting and unit pricing methodologies.
Solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, tax, and ASIC compliance
requirements.
Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/fund administration systems.
Strong communication skills and ability to manage client and stakeholder relationships.
Desirable:
Experience in Xero will be highly regarded
Experience with fund administration or unit registry systems (e.g. Registry Direct, Paxus)
Exposure to both managed investment schemes and corporate entity accounting.
Experience in mid-sized or boutique financial services firms.
